ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The connection between these herbs and the supernatural is age-old, with an association to Artemis as referred to in their genus name, Artemisia. The Greek goddess deity, Artemis (or Diana in Roman mythology), sister of Apollo, was known as an independent and often untamed goddess, protector of virgins and those suffering from illness. Her symbology is reflected in both mugwort and wormwood:
Mugwort lore is rich in relation to prophetic visions & dreams, blessings, cleansing and protection; often burned in the Midsommer fire or hearth to promote safe passage.
Wormwood lore mentions Artemis’ lending this herb to Chiron where it became one of his most cherished, all-purpose healing herbs. Other esoteric uses include assisting the release of anger when combining with intentional analysis of the underlying cause/s.
Both mugwort and wormwood lore mentions their use in love potions, divination (scrying), invocation, protection charms and warding off both pathological and spiritual parasites (incl. bugs).
These smoke wands may be burned (outdoors) or hung on doors for prophylaxis against maleficent intent and spirits.
